What is a Health Coach you ask? What does a Health Coach do for a person?

I am an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. I work with Primary and Secondary foods.

Primary Foods being relationships, career, spirituality, finances etc. and Secondary foods being food and nutrition

As a Health Coach I help integrate and balance areas of people’s lives that they are invested in. I bring about awareness to areas that need attention, create empowered and long lasting goals with my clients.

I talk about Health Coaching because I receive a lot of questions around what I do. When I sit down for initial consultations, people always often curious when I delve into their personal lives which is deeply essential to unfold obstacles in one’s healing. For example; relationships. People always wonder what has my relationships got to do with the fact that I’m not losing weight? Or I’m not being able to focus on goals that I’ve set…

Let’s talk about Primary Foods some more…

Relationships:

Relationships take work, period. Conscious connection and understanding is the key to most relationships that do work. Some people might have great relationships that make them happy emotionally, physically, spiritually etc. but they often forget how to balance other parts of their lives. They dedicate everything to their relationships leaving them feeling empty or hopeless when it comes to things like making space for self-growth, making time to exercise, cooking a meal and saving money.

Now relationships that do work want to make these conscious changes together; for themselves and for the relationship. Giving each other space for self-growth, cooking a meal together, paying bills together and saving money on the side, exercising together, pushing each other to expand their boundaries and just giving the other space to be themselves.

On the other hand, you can have a bad relationship that affect one adversely. It can be abusive, controlling, obsessive, toxic. People in these type of relationships sometimes don’t even realise they’re stuck. It often comes out emotionally in insecurities, unhappiness, suppressed aggression and it can come out physically in illnesses.

Now where does a Health Coach come in? There have been many times, I’ve sat down with people and pointed out how important it is to have a balance of relationships in your life. Relationships are the base of human connection. They can elevate or suppress you. Just a simple thing like “Good morning babe, I love you” can make your day as compared to getting out of bed and saying “Bye” before leaving for work. Health Coaches give you the insight to understand whether or not you have and want the right people around you. We enhance a good relationship and shine light on areas that need working on. A lot of the times it might not be the other person, it might be you who is not willing to adjust or recognize the patterns leading to your disconnection in your relationships. That’s when we dig deeper and take the extra steps to a free and healthy relationship.

Now lets talk about Finances:

You might or might not be a person who is making a lot of money but you don’t know where your money is going. You might be compulsively shopping, giving your money away or just spending it on paying bills after bills and you have no idea why? As a health coach I help bring about an awareness on your finances and where you might be going wrong. Maybe you’re not setting boundaries for yourself. Maybe you’re not prioritizing your needs with comparison to your wants. There are often times I sit down with a client and it’s not the finances that’s the problem, it’s other things that lead to the dis-balance. This is when we start creating the building blocks.

It is important for everyone to have financial freedom. To find a balance between your expenditures, needs and wants. Most of us don’t know how to find the equation to living a life without having to think about the pressure on your finances. Most of us learn the hard way but do we really need to get to the hard part? Why not start immediately? Financially, we all need to be knowledgeable and smart and know where our hard earned money goes at the end of the day.

Spirituality:

Faith and belief is something we all have in our lives. You might not be religious but there’s definitely moments in your life you say “Oh God”. If you are religious, you already know what it is to surrender yourself to a higher power.

But remember spirituality always starts with you. It’s nice to wake up in the morning and have a sense of purpose for yourself and be grateful to the universe, to your angels, your ancestors or whatever it is you put your prayers and faith into.

As a health coach I bring about the awareness and importance of being spiritual. Having an objective is necessary as it gives you the push to do things you’ve set out to do for yourself.

Secondary Foods

Nutrition:

In today’s world, people don’t realise what a big role food plays in our lives. We have a deep deep connection with food that goes back to our ancestors. We need good, healing, nutritious foods to keep us fit mentally and physically. What I do centres around food. Yes we have to find balance in all parts of our lives but we also have to find balance with what we eat. Like relationships, we need to invest in our food. You can have a great day or life eating nutritious food or you can eat all the junk and watch your body bring you down. It’s amazing how different fruits and vegetables have different nutritional value, all a big power house waiting to fuel and heal your body.

A lot of my clients just don’t know how to eat the right amounts of food. Some eat too many carbs (the typical Asian diet) while others eat too much protein (the typical athlete’s diet) and eventually find a discomfort in their well-being. It’s all about tuning in, connecting with your body and feeding your body and soul with the right amounts of everything (even the junk when your body is craving for it).

We are all connected. Everything in our lives are integrated. We need to find balance and create boundaries in order for us to live our lives to the fullest. We all need someone to love and live our best moments with and to pick the right person/people to share your life with.

In the end, we need someone to listen just as much as you listen to the others. Often we need a guiding light to nudge us in the right direction and as a Health Coach I strive to do just that. I create a neutral, non-judgemental, safe space for you to release your emotions and reach personal goals, goals with your family, goals in your diet, your relationship, career, reverse illness, become more active and bring vibrant energy into your life.
